Communicating a nonprofit’s mission takes more than brochures or reports—it takes connection. For Resilience Advocates for Ending Violence in Ottawa and Allegan Counties, that connection came through a professionally produced video.

Designed for both a major fundraising event and long-term awareness, the project highlighted the nonprofit’s services, impact, and vision for ending domestic and sexual violence while inspiring the community to take action.

Nonprofit Video Production as a Fundraising Tool

For many nonprofits, video is one of the most powerful ways to connect with audiences. When produced well, nonprofit video production creates awareness, builds trust, and inspires donations. Resilience Advocates for Ending Violence partnered with Visionaery Productions to produce a video designed to inform, engage, and move supporters at their annual Blue Star Bash fundraising event.

Resilience serves communities across Ottawa and Allegan Counties, providing critical resources for those affected by domestic and sexual violence. As advocates for ending violence, their team delivers comprehensive services that address immediate crises and long-term healing. The video project gave their nonprofit a platform to highlight impact and invite the community into their mission.

A Mission to End Domestic and Sexual Violence

At its core, Resilience’s nonprofit’s mission is about ending violence. That means not only responding to crises but also preventing abuse and creating safer futures. The video emphasized how advocacy and education work together to end domestic and sexual violence in West Michigan.

Services That Support Survivors and Families

Resilience’s strength lies in its broad range of services. Survivors find support, practical resources, and compassionate guidance through programs addressing both immediate safety and ongoing stability. From housing to children’s therapy, every service reflects the nonprofit’s commitment to restoring lives impacted by domestic or sexual violence.

Sexual Assault Response With SANE Exams

When sexual assault occurs, timely care is critical. Resilience offers 24/7 access to sexual assault nurse exams (SANE). These specialized services help survivors navigate trauma while ensuring medical and legal needs are addressed with dignity and compassion.

Housing Support for Domestic Violence Survivors

For those experiencing domestic violence, safe housing is often the first step toward healing. Resilience provides both emergency shelter and long-term housing support, creating a foundation for survivors to build resilience and stability in their lives.

Bilingual Advocacy & Language Access

Language can be a barrier to safety. Resilience’s bilingual advocates provide support in Spanish, ensuring survivors can respond and be heard in their own words. These inclusive services expand access to vital resources, strengthening outcomes for diverse families across the community.

Giving Advocates a Voice Through Video

The project’s concept was simple but powerful: let staff speak in their own words. This approach positioned Resilience’s team as passionate advocates for ending violence, showing the depth of their expertise and their dedication to walking alongside survivors.

Firsthand Testimonials Without Exploitation

Rather than relying on personal survivor stories, the video highlighted firsthand testimonials from staff. This built awareness while avoiding re-traumatization. By amplifying advocates’ voices, the video maintained authenticity and credibility while respecting privacy.

Showing Impact on Children and Families

The video also underscored the importance of children and families in Resilience’s programs. Therapy rooms, safe spaces, and family-centered services show how the nonprofit not only supports individuals but also strengthens the wider community.

Creating a Compelling Multipurpose Video

With a planned runtime of just under five minutes, the production was designed to be compelling and professional. Interviews, b-roll, and inclusive visuals came together to highlight the nonprofit’s mission and impact. The video was intentionally crafted as a multipurpose tool—equally effective at fundraising events and online.

Short, Professional Videos Drive Engagement

A short video of 4–5 minutes proved the ideal length for balancing depth with viewer engagement. This format works well on stage, on social platforms, and as an evergreen resource on a nonprofit’s website.

Partnership Between Resilience and Visionaery

The collaboration was a true partnership. On filming day, Visionaery Productions captured interviews, staged b-roll, and documented authentic interactions. Resilience’s goals guided every shot: to create an empowering, trauma-informed message that reflects the nonprofit’s values.

Inspiring Awareness, Donations, and Action

The video premiered at Blue Star Bash, where it helped drive donations and inspire supporters. Beyond the event, it continues to raise awareness, share Resilience’s message, and invite the community into action. The multipurpose nature of the project ensures ongoing return on investment for the nonprofit.

Lessons for Nonprofits Using Video

This case study demonstrates how nonprofits can maximize video production. By focusing on mission, services, and impact, nonprofits can build awareness, strengthen credibility, and move audiences to support their cause.

Key Takeaways: Ending Violence Through Awareness

Resilience’s video proved that professional production is more than a marketing tool—it’s an opportunity to share, learn, and inspire. By centering on ending violence, the nonprofit reinforced its cause, built trust, and created a resource that will benefit the community for years to come.
